First of all, let me stress that weighing in is not my favoured way of monitoring progression, but whilst working at the gym and when with family and friends who are trying to shift a bit of weight, I constantly hear this; ‘I’m really disappointment because I ONLY lost 1 pound’. Straight away in my head I’m like WAAAAAAAH 🤦🏻♀️.
Firstly, you’ve got rid of 1 pound, it’s a loss (what you want), so you should be giving yourself positive reinforcement ‘HECK YAAAAA I’ve lost a pound, high five for me!’, if you mentally put yourself down for the achievement you’re not going to keep your motivation for long where as if you congratulate yourself you’ll feel like a badass and know you’ve got this. Slow and steady wins the race (and is the healthiest and most sustainable way to do it)!🐢
Secondly, as this image shows, 1lb fat is more than it sounds, yes you may not see it immediately when you look in the mirror (losing 1lb won’t solely be fat) but that 1lb has been trimmed from your body in general, unfortunately not only from one located area! But keep losing that 1lb a week until your goal is reached and you will most definitely see the difference in the mirror! ‘Trust the process’.
Thirdly, try not to compare yourself to anyone else. You and your body are unique, embrace that! If you go to a slimming group (not knocking it if it works for you) congratulate the people around you, but also congratulate yourself on any achievement, no matter how small.🤩 Or if you are like me and you don’t want to have to rely on the scales to know if your hard work is paying off, start using body pictures, circumference measurements, clothing and body fat%! Some weeks my weight won’t change, or it may even go up, but I may have reduced my body fat% and trimmed 1/2cm from my arms or legs etc and it reminds me that the scales are not the be all and end all (CYAAAAAA SCALES 😂); my body tells me better than any scales and reminds me my hard work is paying off! If you are trying to reduce your body fat, or shift a few lbs, get in touch with any questions. But know this, get the knowledge, be kind to yourself, don’t beat yourself up and you will crack this, YOU WILL DO THIS!🕺🏻
Be happy, be healthy, be you.
